The purpose of this scheme was to provide special needs facilities for a young boy. The single storey extension to a bungalow consisted of a new bedroom with level access threshold to provide easy access to the decking and garden areas. A new bathroom was constructed and fitted with specialist equipment consisting of rise and fall W.C., basin, bath and shower chair. In addition, a new store room for equipment and a carer’s bedroom with en-suite were provided. All external materials were carefully selected to match the existing facades so the extension blended in seamlessly with the existing.
Demolition work completed, the oversite excavated to formation level and concrete strip foundation made ready for brickwork.
Engineering brickwork in cavity to damp proof course level, installation of below ground drainage to service carer’s en-suite area and installation of concrete block and beam floor.
Blockwork in cavity to wall plate height. Timber truss roof was manufactured off site, craned into place and installed quickly and easily in one day
Child’s bedroom fitted with low surface temperature radiator, remote control window actuators and level access threshold onto decking area.
Carers en-suite shower room with fully fitted shower room suite, high quality vinyl flooring and electric under floor heating.
